** UPDATE 08/26/2024
Per statement from Bryan Richison (City Administrator), “The City of Arnold and the Arnold Retail Corridor (ARC) Transportation Development District are no longer pursuing the Arnold Parkway project.”
From the Arnold Parkway Leadership Team:
Although the news today was unexpected, trust in our City Officials and City Administration has been lost. This is evidenced by the fact that the Arnold Parkway Project enforced plans of eminent domain, plotted behind closed doors for at least 3 years. We believe a real change is needed for the Arnold residents: therefore, we will continue our vital recall efforts.
As long as the ARC TDD exists and as long as the current City Administration is in place, Arnold residents are still threatened by the potential for future similar projects.
Arnold city officials recently announced a proprosal to build a new two-lane road connecting Richardson Road to Highway 141, running mostly parallel to I-55. The $75 million project is expected to be funded by bond sales through the City of Arnold.
The project will require property acquisitions and is expected displace at least 10 businesses and 38 homes. The City announced that they will exercise eminent domain to carry out the project.
